Bihar Agricultural University Launches Seed Money Grant to Boost Research

Sabour/ Patna: Bihar Agricultural University (BAU) Sabour has introduced a Seed Money Research Grant Policy to support agricultural research and innovation in the state. The initiative, finalized during the university’s 7th Project Monitoring and Evaluation Cell meeting, aims to provide financial assistance to researchers working on solutions for Bihar’s farmers.
BAU Sabour’s Vice Chancellor, Dr. Duniya Ram Singh, emphasized the importance of research in agricultural progress. “This policy will provide scientists with essential resources to develop innovative solutions suited to Bihar’s agricultural landscape,” he said.
The grant will focus on encouraging innovation by funding research projects, promoting collaboration among scientists, developing market-ready solutions for agricultural challenges, and bridging the gap between research labs and farmers’ fields.
Director of Research, Dr. Anil Kumar Singh, highlighted that the initiative will help tackle real-world problems faced by farmers. “By supporting both experienced and young researchers, we aim to address the practical challenges of farming communities,” he said.
The Directorate of Research will oversee the policy’s implementation, ensuring fair evaluation of research proposals, transparent funding allocation, tracking of impact through measurable results, and effective dissemination of research-based technologies to farmers.
To encourage participation, BAU Sabour will launch an awareness campaign across its colleges and research centers. The university also showcased its achievements between 2010 and 2024, including an investment of Rs 51 million, completion of over 700 projects, and the development of new crop varieties and farming technologies.
Looking ahead, the university plans to introduce a digital monitoring system, establish an independent evaluation committee, and enhance commercialization of research findings. BAU Sabour remains committed to making agricultural advancements more accessible to farmers, promoting innovation-driven growth in Bihar’s farming sector.
