Bihar Agricultural University’s PGDAEM Programme Sees Overwhelming Response, 55 Applications Received

Bihar Agricultural University Secures Three DST Research Projects to Advance Agricultural Innovation

Bhagalpur: Bihar Agricultural University (BAU), Sabour, has announced the launch of its Postgraduate Diploma in Agricultural Extension Management (PGDAEM), marking a significant development in agricultural education in the state. In collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare and the National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE), Hyderabad, the one-year diploma programme is being offered for the first time at BAU Sabour.

The PGDAEM programme, which spans two semesters, is conducted through a mix of online learning, field-based training, webinars, and interactive sessions. Open to graduates from any discipline, the course offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to enhance knowledge in agricultural extension and rural development, communication strategies in agriculture, extension management and leadership, sustainable agricultural practices, and the use of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) in extension services. Upon completion, participants will receive a Postgraduate Diploma in Agricultural Extension Management awarded by MANAGE, Hyderabad, under the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare.

The programme has already garnered significant interest, with 55 applications received from districts such as East Champaran, Purnia, Sheikhpura, Supaul, Kishanganj, and Samastipur. This response highlights the increasing demand for professional development in agricultural extension within Bihar.

The core aim of the PGDAEM programme is to equip professionals with the skills needed to effectively transfer advanced agricultural techniques and innovations to farmers and rural communities. Students will gain both theoretical insights and hands-on experience to tackle real-world challenges in agricultural extension.

Graduates of the programme will be eligible for a variety of roles in government and non-government organizations, agricultural agencies, research institutes, and agribusinesses. Job opportunities include positions such as Agricultural Extension Officer, Rural Development Manager, Project Coordinator, and Agricultural Advisor.
