Bihar Approves Nearly Rs 99 Crore for Development of Tourist Facilities at Matsyagandha Lake

Patna: The Government of Bihar has sanctioned Rs 98,65,79,300 for the development of tourist facilities around Matsyagandha Lake in Saharsa district. The initiative, approved under the Scheme for Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment 2024-25, aims to elevate the lake and its surroundings to global standards as a premier tourist destination.
Matsyagandha Lake is a significant attraction in the district, drawing a large number of visitors annually. The proposed development will provide high-quality facilities to enhance the visitor experience, potentially increasing tourist footfall and boosting government revenue.
The project also envisions the creation of employment opportunities and entrepreneurial ventures for the local population, contributing to the socio-economic development of the region.
The approval by the Council of Ministers marks a strategic effort to promote sustainable tourism in Bihar, with Matsyagandha Lake being identified as an iconic site to attract both domestic and international tourists.
