Bihar Approves Rs 20.88 Crore Ahar-Pain Projects for Six Blocks in Patna

Patna: The Bihar government has approved multiple Ahar-Pain irrigation schemes under the Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali Abhiyan for the financial year 2024-25, aiming to enhance water conservation and irrigation infrastructure. The Minor Water Resources Department has sanctioned Rs 20.88 crore for projects across six blocks in Patna district—Masaurhi, Punpun, Daniyawan, Khusrupur, Paliganj, and Dhanarua. The initiatives are expected to restore irrigation facilities across 4,054 hectares of agricultural land, with completion targeted by June 2025.
The approved schemes include key renovation projects in each block. In Masaurhi, the Chakia Chithaul Pain Scheme (Rs 1.42 crore), Daulatpur Bhujaur Pain Irrigation Scheme (Rs 1.68 crore), and Lahsuna Pain Scheme (Rs 2.69 crore) will collectively improve irrigation for 1,147 hectares. Punpun will see the Panwar Pain Scheme (Rs 1.81 crore) and Lakhanpar Akouna Pain Scheme (Rs 2.64 crore) restoring water access to 852 hectares.

In Daniyawan, the Etwaritola Erai Pain Scheme (Rs 2.12 crore) and Kharmaiya Pain Scheme (Rs 1.32 crore) will benefit 603 hectares, while Khusrupur’s Chuharmal Sthan Chaura Pain Scheme (Rs 93.48 lakh) will support irrigation for 168 hectares. Paliganj will have the Dhokhara Karauti Ahar Pain Sluice Gate Scheme (Rs 3.37 crore), covering 725 hectares. Meanwhile, in Dhanarua, the Sanda Pain Scheme (Rs 2.86 crore) will restore irrigation across 559 hectares.

The initiative is expected to improve agricultural productivity and promote groundwater conservation by ensuring a steady water supply to farmers. The state government remains committed to strengthening rural infrastructure and supporting sustainable water management through such projects.
