Bihar: Armed robbers loot phones, jewellery from bus passengers in Nawada

Nawada – A passenger bus traveling through Nawada city fell victim to masked robbers who carried out a robbery using force and weapons. The criminals successfully looted mobile phones and jewelry from approximately a dozen passengers.

The targeted Bundela bus, en route from Dhanbad (Jharkhand) to Bihar Sharif (Nalanda), was on its way to Rajauli bus stand via NH-20 Sadbhavana Chowk through Sai Mandir when the armed robbers intercepted and forcibly boarded the bus.

Brandishing weapons, they threatened passengers and seized their mobile phones and jewelry. Disturbingly, passengers reported calling the police for assistance, but allege that no immediate help was provided.

Remarkably, the Bundelkhand police station OP is located just a short distance from the incident site. The Superintendent of Police’s office issued a press note acknowledging the incident. It stated that upon receiving information, the police from Bundelkhand police station OP swiftly arrived at the scene. Unfortunately, by that time, the robbers had already fled.

The incident occurred around three in the morning, capitalizing on the cover of darkness. The miscreants reportedly fled towards the Khuri river of the city.

According to the police, 5-10 robbers managed to escape with stolen mobile phones during the robbery. Additionally, chains and earrings were snatched from three to four female passengers.

Nawada SP Ambrish Rahul said, “We are treating the matter seriously. A Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed under the leadership of Sadar SDPO to nab the robbers.”
