Patna: The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has announced that candidates will now have five attempts, instead of the previous three, to appear in the Teacher Recruitment Examination (TRE). This decision directly benefits approximately 2.5 lakh candidates who had exhausted their initial three attempts. These candidates will now be eligible to sit for TRE-4 and TRE-5.

The education department currently has around 1.6 lakh vacant teaching positions that need to be filled through the TRE. Currently, 3 lakh candidates meet the eligibility criteria for the TRE, including those who have already used their first three chances. The expansion to five attempts is aimed at providing these candidates with additional opportunities to secure teaching positions.

This decision follows the state government’s amendment of recruitment rules in March. Previously, candidates were only allowed three attempts as per the rules applicable during the first phase of the TRE.

The BPSC has cautioned candidates to beware of fraudsters who might promise success in the exams in exchange for money. Reports have surfaced of demands ranging from Rs 50,000 to Rs 2 lakh to secure marks above the cut-off. The BPSC maintains that their examination system is secure, and any such offers are fraudulent.

BPSC has also stated that candidates or parents who give money to anyone with the promise of success or spread rumors about such offers will be barred from the examination. They will face strict legal action and financial penalties. The BPSC has provided a hotline, 8986422296, for reporting any suspicious calls related to mark manipulation in TRE-3, which was held from July 19-22.

With TRE-4 and TRE-5 on the horizon, BPSC is expected to soon release an advertisement for filling 1.6 lakh teaching posts. This announcement is particularly important for candidates who were not selected in their first three attempts, as they will now have two additional opportunities.

In related news, the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) has released the results of the Special School Teacher Eligibility Test (BSSTET). Candidates can check their results on the official BSEB website. This state-level exam was conducted to select special school teachers for primary and upper primary classes, with 7,279 posts available.
