Bihar Celebrates World Youth Skills Day 2024 with Emphasis on Development

Patna: The Bihar Skill Development Mission, under the Labor Resources Department, celebrated World Youth Skills Day at the Dashrath Manjhi Labor and Employment Study Institute in Patna on Monday. The event was inaugurated by Minister Santosh Kumar Singh and Principal Secretary Dr. B. Rajender, highlighting the importance of skill development for the state’s progress.

During the event, the Skill Awareness Rath was flagged off to promote public awareness about skill development programs. This initiative will travel across Bihar until August 15, educating the public on the benefits and opportunities provided by the Bihar Skill Development Mission. The event also featured the screening of the India Skill Film and the unveiling of a Coffee Table Book, along with honoring winners of various competitions organized by the Mission.

Minister Santosh Kumar Singh emphasized the necessity of skill development for societal well-being and progressive development. He stressed that equipping youth with skills is crucial for the sustainable development of Bihar and acknowledged the efforts of industry partners in supporting the state’s skill development initiatives. He reiterated the theme of World Youth Skills Day 2024, “Youth Skills for Peace and Development,” and its importance in addressing global challenges.

Principal Secretary Dr. B. Rajender highlighted the role of youth skill development in achieving economic progress, social peace, and stability. He emphasized the Bihar Skill Development Mission’s commitment to providing comprehensive and contemporary skill courses, aligning with global trends to help youth realize their dreams and secure employment. He also appealed to industry partners to ensure fair wages and support the interests of the skilled youth.

The event honored youth who excelled in various skill competitions at the state and national levels. Gold medalists Rajesh Sharma, Gautam Kumar Giri, and Amit Kumar, who will compete in the International Skill Competition in Lyon, France, received incentives of Rs. 100,000 each. Other medalists were also awarded incentives, recognizing their achievements and encouraging further excellence in skill development.

Additionally, the event included the signing of MoUs with two companies to further support skill development initiatives. The Bihar Skill Development Mission provided certificates and prize money to participants in various competitions, including Trade, ITI, Robotics, and more. Awards were also given to the top KYP Centers, RTD, Domain Centers, and Best ITI Job performers.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Special Secretary Rajiv Ranjan and was managed by Bhavna Verma, Regional Head of NSDC. The celebration underscored Bihar’s commitment to advancing skill development and fostering an environment of growth and opportunity for its youth.
