Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar Inaugurates Shriram Janaki Medical College and Hospital in Samastipur

Samastipur: A day before the historic consecration of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inaugurated the Shriram Janaki Medical College and Hospital in Sarai Ranjan, Samastipur district, at a cost of Rs 591 crore. This state-of-the-art medical facility boasts 500 beds and offers modern amenities.

The hospital is designed to provide earthquake-resistant infrastructure and is recognized as a green building. It is equipped to enroll 100 medical students annually, offering a comprehensive range of medical courses. The premises include accommodation facilities for staff, students, and relatives of patients, ensuring a holistic approach to healthcare.

After officially opening the Shriram Janaki Medical College and Hospital, Chief Minister (CM) Nitish conducted an inspection of various sections of the facility. The Additional Chief Secretary of the Health Department, Pratyaya Amrit, presented a detailed overview of the hospital’s construction and operational arrangements during a meeting held in the hospital premises. A short film highlighting the hospital’s features and services was also showcased.

Expressing his pleasure at the inauguration, CM Nitish remarked on the hospital’s modern facilities and its significance for the local community. He assured that patients from the region would no longer need to seek treatment elsewhere, emphasizing the diverse range of medical services provided.

The hospital, named after the Shriram Janaki Math, received a significant land donation for its construction. The Central Government also supported the project, contributing to the hospital’s substantial size and quality infrastructure. While initially offering 500 beds, the hospital aims to expand to 1,000 beds in the future, with plans for increased medical student enrollments.

CM Nitish addressed a public meeting on the hospital premises, expressing gratitude to the large gathering for their participation. Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Prasad Yadav and Finance, Commercial Tax, and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary also addressed the audience during the event.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai, Education Minister Alok Kumar Mehta, Deputy Speaker of Bihar Assembly Maheshwar Hajari, MP Ramnath Thakra, MLA Ajay Kumar, MLA Rajesh Singh, MLA Ranvijay Sahu, MLA Virendra Paswan, MLA Akhtarul Islam Shaheen, former MP Ashwamedh Devi, Additional Chief Secretary of Health Department Pratyaya Amrit, Officer on Special Duty to Chief Minister Gopal Singh, Bihar Medical Services and Infrastructure Corporation Limited Managing Director Dinesh Kumar, Darbhanga Divisional Commissioner Manish Kumar, DIG- Darbhanga zone, Babu Ram, Samastipur District Magistrate Yogendra Singh, Samastipur SP Vinay Tiwari, Shri Ram Janaki Hospital and College Superintendent Dr. Alka Jha, Principal Dr. Abharani Sinha, along with other dignitaries and senior officials.
