
Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inaugurated the much-anticipated link road connecting Patna Sahib Railway Station to Patna Ghat, a key project under the JP Ganga Path. The new 1.5-kilometre stretch is set to significantly enhance regional connectivity and ease traffic congestion in the densely populated Ashok Rajpath and Marufganj Mandi areas.
During the inauguration, CM Nitish visited several key points along the route including Patna Ghat near OP Sah Community Building, the Tourist Information Center near the railway station, and the Guru Govind Singh Link Path located on the Patna-Bakhtiyarpur Fourlane. He received a detailed briefing from officials on the progress and design of the new link road, and directed them to ensure timely completion of the project with quality standards.
Constructed by Bihar State Road Development Corporation Limited under the Road Construction Department, the project is being developed at a cost of Rs. 52.54 crore. It is based on a land exchange agreement between the state government and Indian Railways. A key feature of the road includes a flyover on Ashok Rajpath, along with two-lane service roads on both sides, complete with street lighting and road markings. Once completed, the link will also connect JP Ganga Path with NH-30, strengthening overall transport integration in the region.
The project is expected to be completed within 12 months, with March 2026 set as the target date. The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of the project in improving commuting convenience and boosting the utility of the JP Ganga Path.
Also present at the event were Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, Bihar Legislative Assembly Speaker Nand Kishore Yadav, Road Construction Minister Nitin Nabin, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Deepak Kumar, Chief Secretary Amrit Lal Meena, Secretaries to the Chief Minister Kumar Ravi, Sandeep Kumar R. Pudkalkatti, and B. Karthikeya Dhanji, Managing Director of BSRDC Kapil Shirshat Ashok, District Magistrate Chandrashekhar Singh, Senior Superintendent of Police Avkash Kumar, along with other senior officials and dignitaries.
