Bihar CM Nitish Kumar Inaugurates Development Projects Worth Rs 890 Crore in Jamui
Jamui: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 74 development projects worth Rs 890.88 crore in Jamui district as part of the fourth phase of his Pragati Yatra. The event, held at the Adarsh Mahila Thana premises, saw the launch of 58 projects worth Rs 76.40 crore and the foundation stone laying for 16 projects valued at Rs 814.47 crore.
CM Nitish conducted an aerial survey of the Laghuar Temple in Khaira block before landing at Dhavantaand village, where he inspected a cage culture project under the Jalashaya Matsyaki Vikas Yojana at Garhi Dam. He also reviewed the proposed Upper Kiul Jalashaya Yojana and Garhi Laghuar road and bridge scheme, instructing officials to develop Garhi Dam into an eco-tourism spot.
At the event, the Chief Minister inaugurated the newly built Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and Women Police Station, inspected its facilities, and reviewed the newly constructed Government Women Degree College in Jamui, built at a cost of Rs 5.54 crore. He also inaugurated a model Anganwadi centre in Shikharia village, a playground in Sonpai village, and a pond developed under the Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali Abhiyan.
The Chief Minister visited various government department stalls, distributing symbolic cheques and benefits to recipients of schemes such as Mukhyamantri Udyami Yojana, Startup Yojana, and Student Credit Card Yojana. He handed over Rs 2 crore to beneficiaries under the Mukhyamantri Udyami Yojana and Rs 1.64 crore to 164 small entrepreneurs under the Bihar Small Entrepreneur Scheme. Subsidised e-rickshaw keys and tricycles were also distributed.
Interacting with self-help groups, CM Nitish praised the progress of Jeevika Didis, acknowledging their role in improving women’s economic independence. He recalled how the initiative, launched in 2005, has transformed the lives of women across Bihar. Jeevika Didis expressed gratitude, saying the programme had given them financial stability and social recognition.
The event was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary, Water Resources Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Science and Technology Minister Sumit Kumar Singh, MPs, MLAs, and senior government officials.
