
Muzaffarpur: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inaugurated a high-quality bag manufacturing unit of Cosmas Lifestyle Pvt Ltd in Muzaffarpur’s Bela Industrial Area on Saturday, established under the Bihar Textile and Leather Policy, 2022. The plant, set up with an investment of Rs 37 crore on 5 acres of land, is expected to generate employment for 1,200 people, with women making up 40% of the workforce.
After cutting the ribbon to formally inaugurate the facility, the Chief Minister toured the unit, observed various stages of production including cutting and stitching, and interacted with workers. He lauded the quality of bags being manufactured and appreciated the craftsmanship on display, offering words of encouragement to the team.
“We are consistently encouraging industrial investment in Bihar,” CM Nitish said during the visit. “Through the Bihar Industrial Investment Promotion Policy, we’ve ensured investors receive the necessary support. This new facility demonstrates our commitment to local employment, especially for the youth and women.”
The unit is focused on producing affordable, high-quality bags and accessories, contributing to both the local economy and the larger goal of boosting industrial infrastructure in the state. CM Nitish highlighted that such initiatives not only promote economic development in the region but also help improve the financial condition of families residing nearby.
Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha, Tourism Minister Raju Kumar Singh, Panchayati Raj Minister Kedar Prasad Gupta, and several other public representatives and officials were present at the inauguration. Also in attendance were senior bureaucrats including the Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary Deepak Kumar, Industries Department Additional Chief Secretary Mihir Kumar Singh, and Director of Industries Mukul Kumar Gupta, along with Cosmas Lifestyle Pvt Ltd representative Siddiqui.
