Bihar CM Nitish Kumar Issues Apology Over Controversial Remarks on Women
Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar extended a formal apology on Wednesday morning, addressing the controversy surrounding his recent remarks about women and population control. Nitish expressed his remorse, folding his hands in a gesture of contrition outside the Assembly and within the hallowed chambers of the House.
The Chief Minister’s apology comes in response to a public outcry over his comments on women and population control, which had sparked widespread condemnation.
The Bihar CM acknowledged his earlier comments while talking to reporters outside the Assembly, saying, “If my statement has caused any hurt, I offer my sincerest apologies. I condemn my own words. I am not retreating from the importance of education in addressing population control. My intention was solely to highlight the positive impact of education on population growth.”
The Chief Minister continued, “I apologize unequivocally. If my words were inappropriate or if they caused any offense, I take them back. If anyone feels compelled to criticize my statement, we offer our apologies. Even in the face of continued criticism, we extend our congratulations to those who express their opinions.”
The controversy over the controversial statement erupted in Bihar Legislative Council as soon as the proceedings of the third day of the winter session commenced. In that setting, CM Nitish reiterated his apology, saying, “If my words have caused any harm, I retract them. If any aspect of my statement is being criticized, I withdraw it. I express my deep regret and extend my apologies. I am also rescinding my earlier statements.”
