Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday laid the foundation stones for three major infrastructure projects at the Lalit Narayan Mishra Institute of Economic Development and Social Change in Patna. These include an annex building (Rs 2.87 crore), a warden block (Rs 4.90 crore), and a startup block (Rs 5.33 crore).
The CM also distributed appointment letters to 20 newly selected assistant professors during a formal event at the institute. The faculty members were selected through the Bihar University Service Commission. Among them were Ritu Narayan, Preeti Singh, Ashok Kumar, Santosh Kumar Jha, and Sanjay Kumar, who received their letters symbolically from the chief minister.
Earlier in the day, Nitish Kumar paid floral tribute to the late Lalit Narayan Mishra, former Union Railway Minister, at his statue on the institute campus. He also reviewed educational facilities and ongoing activities at the institute.
Speaking at the event, Education Minister Sunil Kumar and Dr. S. Siddharth, Director of the institute and Additional Chief Secretary of the Education Department, welcomed the CM. Also present were top government officials including Patna DM Dr. Chandrashekhar Singh and SSP Avkash Kumar.
Established in 1973, the Lalit Narayan Mishra Institute—originally named Bihar Institute of Economic Development—has grown into a key centre for management and technical education in eastern India. The institute currently offers a range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses, and boasts over 90% placement success in recent years.
