Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar made an unexpected visit to the Janata Dal (United) state office on Thursday, catching party spokespersons off guard as they were midway through an internal meeting. The visit, seen as a signal of Nitish’s renewed focus on party discipline and accountability, came alongside Union Minister and senuor JD (U) functionary Rajiv Ranjan alias Lallan Singh.

According to party insiders, Nitish’s surprise appearance was meant to personally check whether all spokespersons were present and engaged. His presence was met with visible enthusiasm from party workers, as JD (U) state president Umesh Kushwaha, MLC Sanjay Gandhi, and other senior leaders stood by to welcome him.

Outside the party office, Nitish was seen giving Lallan Singh a brief tour of recent infrastructural upgrades. “We have got all the work done here, you can see it,” Nitish remarked, pointing out the improvements. Singh, nodding in approval, replied, “We have seen it.”

Though his visit was largely organisational, it came against the backdrop of heightened national attention following India’s military strike on terrorist camps. Speaking to the media after the meeting, Lallan Singh, in Nitish’s presence, praised the precision of the armed forces’ action and affirmed the party’s alignment with the central government on matters of national security.

Singh noted that the strike, which destroyed terrorist camps without damaging nearby military installations, demonstrated “the accuracy and strategic depth” of India’s response. He added that public anger had been met with a firm reply, and India had made it clear it would not tolerate any form of terror.

Asked about political consensus, Singh said that all parties—including the opposition—were standing with the government and security forces. “This is not a time for division; it’s a moment of national solidarity,” he stated.
