Bihar CM Nitish Kumar Urges Swift Completion Of 6-Lane Sherpur-Dighwara Ganga Bridge

Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday conducted an on-site inspection of the under-construction 6-lane Sherpur-Dighwara Ganga Bridge, urging officials to speed up the project’s completion.

The bridge, which stretches 14.52 km over the Ganga River, is being built by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) at an estimated cost of Rs 3,200 crore. It connects Sherpur in Patna district to Dighwara in Saran district and is expected to be completed by 2027.
CM Nitish visited the Sherpur end of the construction site and reviewed the ongoing work in the river. He emphasised the strategic importance of the bridge, which will serve as part of the Patna Ring Road and improve connectivity between North and South Bihar.

The bridge will also link with the Bihta-Sarmera route and the under-construction JP Ganga Path on the Patna side. Once completed, the project is expected to ease travel for residents of western Patna and enhance road access across all directions of the capital.

Accompanying the Chief Minister during the inspection were the principal secretary and secretaries to the Chief Minister, senior officials from the road construction department, the district magistrate and senior superintendent of police of Patna, and engineers from NHAI.
