Nitish Kumar Urges Swift Completion of Buddha Samyak Darshan Project in Vaishali

Patna: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Tuesday conducted an inspection of the ongoing construction at the Buddha Samyak Darshan-cum-Buddha Smriti Stupa in Vaishaligarh, located in Vaishali district. The Chief Minister emphasized the need for expediting the project’s completion during his visit, which included a thorough assessment of the development across the entire complex.

Nitish inspected both the ground and first floors of the Buddha Stupa, where he closely examined the progress of the construction work. His visit also included a review of the library and meditation room, where he inquired about the facilities and arrangements being made for future visitors. The Secretary of the Building Construction Department, Kumar Ravi, provided the Chief Minister with a comprehensive update on the status of the Buddha Samyak Darshan Museum and Buddha Smriti Stupa construction.

Following the site tour, Nitish chaired a review meeting in the conference room at the Visitor Center. During the meeting, Secretary Kumar Ravi presented detailed information on the key components of the project, which include the Buddha Stupa (stone structure), museum block, library and meditation room, visitor center, guest house, and exhibition plans. Ravi reported that approximately 80 percent of the construction has been completed, with the remaining work expected to be finished within the next two months.

CM Nitish reiterated his commitment to the project, noting that he regularly visits the site to oversee the progress. He urged the construction team to adhere strictly to the project plan and to complete the work as soon as possible. Nitish also directed the team to enhance the campus environment by planting trees, constructing water bodies, and improving the pathways within the complex.

Nitish highlighted ongoing efforts to improve traffic access to the site, aimed at ensuring tourists can reach Vaishaligarh more easily and in less time. He noted that an increase in tourist visits would also boost local employment opportunities. “Vaishali is a place of great historical and mythological significance,” the CM said, emphasizing that the relic of Lord Buddha’s bones found in Vaishali is considered the most authentic of all discovered relics.

The Chief Minister expressed confidence that the completion of the Buddha Samyak Darshan Museum-cum-Buddha Smriti Stupa would attract a large number of tourists, including Buddhist monks from India and abroad. He added that visitors to Bodh Gaya and Rajgir would likely include Vaishali in their pilgrimage. The museum is set to feature displays on the life of Mahatma Buddha and the history of Buddhism, along with details on the development of Vaishaligarh, showcasing the transformation of the site from its earlier state to its current status as a prominent historical landmark.
