Bihar CM Nitish Kumar Visits Ancestral Village of Mauritius’ First PM in Bhojpur

Ara/ Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar visited Bhojpur on Sunday as part of his ongoing Pragati Yatra, making a significant stop at Harigaon—the ancestral village of Seewoosagur Ramgoolam, the first Prime Minister of Mauritius. CM Nitish met the family of Harishankar Mahato, a fourth-generation descendant of Shiv Ratan, the cousin of Ramgoolam’s father, Mohit Ramgoolam.
During his visit, the Chief Minister inspected Sir Shiv Sagar Ramgoolam Government Plus Two High School, reviewing its library, gym, and science laboratories. He also observed a science project exhibition set up by school students.
CM Nitish further assessed key infrastructure in the area, including Jeevika Bhawan, an open gym, the Panchayat Government Bhawan, and the Health and Wellness Centre in Harigaon Panchayat. At the health centre, he examined the medicine distribution facility, registration counter, and other patient services, seeking updates from officials on medical provisions available in the region.
As part of his visit, CM Nitish also announced several new development schemes for the area, reinforcing the government’s commitment to improving education, healthcare, and infrastructure in rural Bihar.
