Patna: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has welcomed the Union Cabinet’s decision to double the railway line from Ayodhya to Sitamarhi (Punaura Dham), the birthplace of Goddess Sita. The railway line, stretching approximately 256 km, will be constructed at a cost of Rs 4,553 crore.

The Chief Minister highlighted that he had previously written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on September 22, 2024, requesting improved rail connectivity to Sitamarhi. Nitish expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister for acting on the request and making this important decision during the Cabinet meeting.

The Chief Minister emphasized that the new railway line will greatly benefit devotees, allowing them to visit both Ayodhya and Punaura Dham with ease. This project is expected to enhance religious tourism and improve transportation in the region.
