Bihar Congress Pays Tribute to Manmohan Singh at Sadaqat Ashram in Patna
Patna: The Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee held a solemn condolence meeting on Friday at the State Congress Headquarters, Sadaqat Ashram here, to pay tribute to former Prime Minister and senior Congress leader Dr. Manmohan Singh, who passed away on Thursday night. Party leaders and workers paid floral tributes to Dr. Singh’s photograph and observed two minutes of silence in his memory.
The meeting was presided over by former State Congress President Prof. Ramjatan Sinha, who lauded Dr. Singh’s immense contributions to India’s economic and political landscape. “Dr. Manmohan Singh was honoured with numerous prestigious awards for his social, political, and global contributions. From 2004 to 2014, he served as the Prime Minister for two consecutive terms, steering the country through multiple economic challenges. As Finance Minister in 1991, under the leadership of former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao, he redefined the Indian economy by introducing policies of liberalization, privatization, and globalization, opening it to the global market,” Sinha said.
He added, “Dr. Singh’s life is an inspiration to all. Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi considered him a mentor and described his demise as an irreparable loss to the nation.”
Former ministers Afaque Alam, Sanjeev Prasad Tony, and Premchand Mishra, along with several other senior leaders, attended the meeting to pay their respects. Notable attendees included Brajesh Pandey, Nirmal Verma, Rajesh Rathore, Lal Babu Lal, Brajesh Prasad Munan, Dr. Ajay Kumar Singh, Vinay Verma, Prof. Ambuj Kishore Jha, Anand Madhav, and Dr. Sanjay Yadav.
Congress leaders Kumar Ashish, Gyan Ranjan, Dr. Snehashish Vardhan Pandey, Nidhi Pandey, Shashi Ranjan, Manjeet Anand Sahu, Rita Singh, Raj Chhaviraj, and many others also participated, expressing their grief and reflecting on Dr. Singh’s enduring legacy. The meeting concluded with heartfelt tributes and a reaffirmation to carry forward his vision for the nation.
