Bihar: CPI-ML Leader Sunil Chandravanshi Shot Dead in Arwal; Police Launch Investigation
Arwal: Sunil Chandravanshi, a prominent CPI-ML leader and former Maoist area commander, was shot dead by three assailants on a motorcycle late Monday night. The attack occurred near the rice mill on Imamganj-Karpi Road in the Kinjar police station area. The assailants fired six bullets, targeting Chandravanshi in the chest, head, and hand.
According to CPI-ML District Secretary Jitendra Yadav, Chandravanshi was returning from Karpi to his village, Chhakkan Bigha, after preparing for a cadre convention. Yadav described the incident: “Sunil Chandravanshi was busy preparing for propaganda and agitation in the Karpi area. As he was heading home, he was ambushed by three criminals on a bike who fired at him, hitting him multiple times. Despite efforts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries.”
The Kinjar police, alerted by local villagers, arrived at the spot and transported Chandravanshi to Sadar Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Superintendent of Police Rajendra Kumar Bhil stated, “Initial investigations suggest the attack may have been motivated by revenge. We are examining all angles and investigating Chandravanshi’s background. The FSL team is on-site, and we are working to apprehend the suspects. We have not yet recovered the cartridges used in the crime.”
Jitendra Yadav further noted, “Sunil Chandravanshi joined CPI-ML ten years ago and had been actively working for the people. Previously, he was associated with the People’s War organization.”
