Gaya: In a shocking incident in the Mufassil police station area of Gaya, criminals brutally attacked two police personnel late on Sunday night, stealing their service revolver and bike. The attack occurred when the police arrived at the spot in response to a mobile robbery report. Although the bike was later recovered, the service revolver remains missing.

According to the police, the criminals not only overpowered and beat up the bike-borne policemen of Dial 112, but they also managed to flee with their weapons. Despite the officers firing shots in the air in self-defence, the criminals were not deterred.

On Monday, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ashish Bharti inspected the spot, while Inspector General (IG) Kshatranil Singh visited the Mufassil police station to investigate. The officials questioned several arrested suspects regarding the incident.

The trouble began after a man approached Mufassil police station around 9 p.m. on Sunday night, reporting that criminals had robbed him near the Railway Overbridge (ROB). In response, the police dispatched a Dial 112 team to investigate. When the two officers arrived at the spot, they found no one and decided to check a nearby road at the base of Abgila Pahad Talli. There, they encountered a group of 4-5 boys, who they began questioning.

As the officers interrogated the group, more individuals arrived, escalating the situation into a physical altercation. The criminals quickly overpowered the officers, snatching their bike and service revolver. Despite the officers firing warning shots in the air, the attackers showed no fear and even fired back. Constable Samarjeet Kumar sustained injuries during the scuffle.

The police station was informed, and reinforcements were sent to the area. While the criminals managed to flee, the stolen bike was found submerged in a nearby pond. By morning, the police had arrested four suspects in connection with the crime and recovered a country-made pistol.

Police station in-charge Raghunath Prasad revealed that the attackers had even discussed shooting the constables during the robbery. The ongoing search for the stolen service revolver has put the police department on high alert.
