Bihar Declares Seven Days of State Mourning for Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh
Patna: The Bihar government has announced seven days of state mourning from December 26, 2024, to January 1, 2025, following the demise of former Prime Minister of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh. As per information received from the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, Dr. Singh passed away on December 26, 2024, at AIIMS, New Delhi.
During the mourning period, the national flag will be flown at half-mast on all buildings where it is regularly hoisted. Additionally, no state functions or government entertainment-related programs will be conducted to honor the memory of the late former Prime Minister.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s visits to Muzaffarpur and Vaishali, initially scheduled for December 27 and December 28, 2024, under the first phase of his Pragati Yatra, have been rescheduled to January 5 and January 6, 2025, respectively. This decision was made in light of the state mourning period following the demise of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh.
Dr. Manmohan Singh, known for his significant contributions to India’s economic reforms and governance, served as the Prime Minister of India from 2004 to 2014. His demise has left the nation in deep sorrow, and tributes are pouring in from across the country.
