Bihar Disburses Rs 249.36 Crore Under Chief Minister Medical Assistance Fund

Patna: The Chief Minister Medical Assistance Fund in Bihar has provided crucial healthcare support to thousands of economically disadvantaged individuals, with 33,620 beneficiaries receiving aid between January 2024 and February 2025. The scheme, aimed at assisting those with serious illnesses and an annual income of up to Rs 2.5 lakh, has disbursed Rs 249.36 crore during this period.

A total of 37,231 applications were submitted, of which 25-30% were rejected due to minor errors, while 3,611 applications were officially denied. The initiative ensures financial support for medical treatment, particularly for residents unable to afford costly procedures.

To apply, individuals must submit a written request along with key documents, including an updated cost estimate from a government or CGHS-recognized hospital, an original income certificate, an Aadhaar card copy, and relevant medical prescriptions and test reports.

Dr. Sanjay Kumar, overseeing medical services, highlighted the importance of complete documentation for approval, stating that each application is carefully reviewed by a committee before funds are allocated.

The Bihar government continues to prioritize healthcare support for vulnerable sections of society, reinforcing its commitment to providing access to essential medical treatments.
