Bihar Diwas Celebrations Marred by Subdued Events Amidst Voter Awareness
Patna/Begusarai: The Bihar Diwas celebrations this year were notably subdued, with official events scaled back due to restrictions imposed under the model code of conduct ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
In Patna, a modest yet spirited celebration marked Bihar Diwas as District Magistrate Shirshat Kapil Ashok presided over a gathering at the Collectorate premises in Hindi Bhawan. Lighting the ceremonial lamp to inaugurate the program, the District Magistrate kicked off the event by releasing colorful balloons and rallying voters to achieve a 100% turnout in the upcoming Lok Sabha election.
Extending warm wishes to all residents on Bihar Diwas, the District Magistrate emphasized the ongoing voter awareness campaign across Patna district under the SVEEP program. The campaign aims not only to boost voter turnout but also to ensure the full engagement of all voters through folk songs, street plays, cultural events, and door-to-door outreach.
Under the guidance of the District Program Officer of ICDS, officials and workers crafted a vibrant rangoli centered on voter awareness, encouraging all Patna district voters to exercise their franchise.
Renowned figures of Patna district’s voter awareness campaign, Neetu Kumari Navgeet and PWD sweep icon Mamta Bharti, delivered melodious songs and captivating performances to inspire voters.
Street plays conveyed the message of ‘First voting, then refreshment’ to the voters, underscoring the importance of casting ballots.
Highlighting Bihar’s 112th establishment anniversary, the District Magistrate emphasized the significance of celebrating Bihar Diwas under the theme of Voter Awareness. With the Lok Sabha elections approaching, the focus is on ensuring that the voting percentage in Patna district aligns with the national average. The District Magistrate stressed the need for all voters to exercise their franchise and contribute to democracy.
In Begusarai, the district administration organized a blood donation camp and a painting competition. Cultural programs at the Kankaul auditorium were inaugurated by DM Roshan Kushwaha and SP Manish, featuring performances celebrating Bihar’s prosperity.
