Patna: The Bihar education department has asked all district education officers to fix the shortage of teachers in schools after recent transfers. Many schools are now left with too few teachers, leading to overcrowded classrooms.
Director of Secondary Education, Dinesh Kumar, wrote a letter to officers asking them to review each school. He said schools must have enough teachers according to the number of students and the subjects they study. If there are fewer teachers, qualified staff should be sent from other schools.
Officials have been told to make sure that sending teachers from one school does not affect studies there. They must also update all deputation details on the e-Shiksha Kosh portal and keep written records of where teachers are sent.
The education department has a rule that there should be one teacher for every 30 students. But many schools have more than 30 students per teacher, which affects education quality. The department hopes that by deputing teachers quickly, students will get better attention and learning will improve.
