Bihar Elections 2025: Prashant Kishor Promises Rs 2,000 Pension and Free Private Schooling in Bihar

Prashant Kishor in Madhubani

Madhubani: Political strategist-turned-activist Prashant Kishor intensified his campaign ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections by making two major announcements during the “Bihar Badlaav Sabha” held in Madhubani on Wednesday evening. The Jan Suraj founder promised a monthly pension of ₹2,000 to every senior citizen above the age of 60 and free private school education for children under 15 — until government schools improve.

These announcements have added momentum to Bihar’s evolving political landscape, signaling Jan Suraj’s sharpened electoral strategy.

“Vote for Your Children’s Future, Not Leaders”

Addressing a large crowd, Kishor appealed to the public to shift their focus from political personalities to core issues like education and employment.

“Now the time has come that the people of Bihar should vote not in the name of leaders, but by looking at the future of their children,” he said.

He emphasized that the upcoming elections should not revolve around familiar political figures but around the hopes and aspirations of the next generation.

Sharp Criticism of Lalu Yadav

In a direct attack on RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav, Kishor questioned the former chief minister’s priorities regarding youth and education.

“What is the concern for children, someone should learn this from Lalu ji. His son is not even 9th pass, yet he wants to make him the king of Bihar. At the same time, the educated youth of Bihar are wandering from door to door for jobs,” Kishor said.

The remarks drew strong reactions from the crowd, indicating deep-seated frustration among voters over the state’s long-standing unemployment crisis.

“This Election Is About the Future of Bihar”

Kishor reiterated that his three-year-long padyatra across villages had exposed him to the ground realities of Bihar.

“This election is not for Lalu, Nitish or Modi. This election is for the education, employment and better future of your children,” he declared.

Bihar’s Post-Chhath Migration a Stark Reality

Highlighting the ongoing distress-driven migration of Bihar’s youth, Kishor said, “Every year after Chhath, lakhs of young people leave the state to find work. This will change only when a people’s government comes to power. When our government comes, they will get employment at home.”

His comments underline Jan Suraj’s core poll pitch — decentralizing power and ensuring jobs and quality education without forcing migration.

Key Highlights of Jan Suraj’s Announcements:

  • ₹2,000 monthly pension for citizens above 60 years.
  • Free education in private schools for children under 15 until government schools are reformed.
  • Focus on employment generation to stop outmigration post-Chhath.
  • Appeal to voters to prioritize children’s future over traditional politics.
