Bihar Exam Violence: Student Killed, Another Injured for Refusing to Help in Cheating

Sasaram/ Patna: A student was shot dead and another critically injured in Sasaram after they refused to assist in cheating during the ongoing matriculation examinations. The attack took place on National Highway 19 late on Saturday evening as the students were returning home after their exam.
The victims, Amit Kumar and Sanjeet Kumar, were appearing for their mother tongue paper (Hindi, Urdu) at Saint Anna School in Budhan Mod on Wednesday. During the exam, another student allegedly asked them to help him cheat. When they refused, the accused threatened them before stepping out to call his associates.
According to witnesses, the assailants intercepted their auto-rickshaw on NH-19, surrounded them, and opened fire. We tried to escape, but they started firing continuously. They even threatened to kill the auto driver.”
The injured students were rushed to Sasaram Trauma Centre and later shifted to a private hospital. Amit Kumar succumbed to his injuries during treatment, while 16-year-old Sanjeet Kumar remains in critical condition and has been referred to a higher medical facility.
