Gaya: The body of a female doctor, Dr. Vandana, was discovered in the girls’ PG hostel of Magadh Medical College Hospital on Sunday morning. Dr. Vandana, who resided in hostel number 7, was scheduled for duty this morning but did not leave her room, prompting concern among her colleagues.

When hostel mates could not reach her, they broke down the door and found Dr. Vandana hanging from a dupatta. The police were immediately notified and arrived at the scene to retrieve the body, which was then sent for postmortem.

The investigation revealed several peculiar details. A helmet was found in Dr. Vandana’s room, although she did not own a scooter. Additionally, her feet were resting on a stool, indicating that her feet were not hanging in the air. These observations are currently being examined by the police.

Dr. Vandana’s son, Honey, mentioned that he had been trying to contact his mother since the previous day but received no response. Upon learning of her death, Dr. Vandana’s son, sister, cousin, and brother rushed to the hostel. Dr. Vandana was pursuing post-graduation in the gynecology department after completing her MBBS.

Originally from Muzaffarpur, Dr. Vandana’s husband, Amitendra Kumar Sinha, works for the railways and is stationed in Patna. He had visited his wife on July 26. The couple has a 17-year-old son who studies in Delhi. Amitendra Kumar has since left for Gaya from Patna. Vandana’s younger sister requested that the body not be taken down until she arrived in Gaya.

Upon receiving the report of the incident, Magadh Medical Police Station officers arrived at the scene, brought down the body with assistance, and sent it for postmortem.

Dr. Vandana’s sister-in-law, Kumkum Sinha, expressed disbelief, stating that Vandana could not have committed suicide. She described Vandana as a strong and determined individual who worked hard to achieve her position. Vandana leaves behind two children: a 19-year-old son and a 5-year-old daughter.

The police are investigating the case, treating it initially as a possible suicide, but await the postmortem report for confirmation. They are conducting a thorough search of the room and are reviewing CCTV footage from the hostel to gather more information.
