Gopalganj: In a significant breakthrough, Gopalganj police have arrested two members of the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The operation led to the seizure of Austrian-made weapons and eight magazines, foiling their plan to carry out a major incident in the East Champaran and Muzaffarpur districts.

The arrests occurred during a routine vehicle check at the Balthari check post in the Kuchaykot police station area. A bus bearing a Nagaland number plate was stopped for inspection. Among the passengers, two suspects were identified and subsequently searched, leading to the discovery of the illegal weapons and magazines.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Kamal Rawat, son of Pappu Singh from Keshar Pura village in the Bangaliya Wash police station area of Ajmer district, Rajasthan, and Santanu Shivam, son of Sunil Kumar from Bowari Deeh village in the Gai Ghat police station area of Muzaffarpur district.

SP Swarn Prabhat detailed the operation, stating that the two suspects were entering Bihar aboard the bus with a Nagaland number plate. The search yielded four Austrian-made Glock pistols and eight magazines from their bags. During interrogation, both suspects were confirmed to be active members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, notorious for their criminal activities.

The Special Task Force (STF), led by Sadar SDPO, is conducting a thorough interrogation of the suspects. Preliminary findings indicate that they were plotting a significant criminal act in Muzaffarpur and Motihari. The suspects had already conducted reconnaissance in these areas, laying the groundwork for their planned crime.

The police have formed a special team to arrest other active members of the gang, identified during the interrogation. SP Swarn Prabhat emphasized that both suspects would be taken on remand for further questioning to uncover more details about their plans and accomplices.
