Patna: Bihar is set to begin a major road infrastructure overhaul with support from the Asian Development Bank (ADB), as consent has been received to publish tenders for five key road upgradation projects across the state. The work will be financed by ADB and implemented by Bihar State Road Development Corporation Ltd (BSRDCL).
The projects include the upgradation, widening and strengthening of the following routes: Banganga–Jethian–Gehlor–Bhindas, Ara–Ekouna–Sahar, Chhapra–Manjhi–Darouli–Guthni Road, Hathauri to Babhangama to Atrar—connecting the high-level bridge on the Bagmati river, and Asarganj–English Mor to Dhoraiya.
Tenders for these projects will be issued through the government’s e-procurement platform between June 15 and July 16, 2025. This marks the first time that international tenders in Bihar will be processed via e-procurement. Until now, global bidding had not been conducted through this digital mechanism in the state.
The shift to e-procurement for international tenders has been enabled through collaborative efforts between BSRDCL and Beltron, aiming to improve transparency and accessibility. All information related to the tender process will be available on the e-proc portal, allowing prospective bidders to easily access and monitor updates.
The total cost of the projects is estimated at Rs 1,800 crore, with a projected completion period of between 2.5 and 3 years. The BSRDCL has also initiated steps for wide publicity of the tender to ensure broad participation.
