Bihar Goverment to Train 5,880 Fish Farmers in Modern Techniques Through Statewide Exposure Tours

The ‘Bhraman Darshan’ scheme will take fish farmers across Bihar on guided visits to fisheries projects to promote self-reliance and technology adoption.

Fish Production in Bihar Triples in 20 Years, State Achieves Self-Sufficiency

Patna: In a bid to strengthen the fisheries sector and empower rural livelihoods, the Bihar government has launched a major initiative to make fish farmers self-reliant through technology adoption.
The ‘Bhraman Darshan Program Scheme’, run by the Directorate of Fisheries under the Animal and Fisheries Resources Department, aims to expose farmers to the latest technological practices in fisheries. This initiative is expected to enhance production quality and sustainability while fostering innovation in traditional fish farming.
As part of the programme in the 2025–26 financial year, 5,880 fish farmers from across the state will be taken on a one-day tour of successful fisheries projects. The farmers will travel in 294 batches, each consisting of 20 participants.
To take part in the scheme, fish farmers are required to register at their respective district fisheries offices by paying a fee of Rs 100. Eligible participants include those involved in fish farming in private, leased, or government water bodies; beneficiaries of departmental schemes; active members of block-level fisheries cooperative committees; and progressive farmers who have undergone departmental training. New farmers with adequate resources and an interest in aquaculture are also encouraged to apply.
Through these guided visits, the government aims not only to improve fish production across Bihar but also to position the state as a leader in the fisheries sector. The programme is designed to raise awareness about modern fish farming techniques and inspire replication of successful models back home.
Interested applicants can contact their district fisheries office or visit the department’s official website at https://state.bihar.gov.in/ahd/CitizenHome.html for more information.
