Bihar Government Announces District-Level Training for Women Teachers Starting January
Patna: The Bihar Education Department has introduced a significant reform to enhance the professional development of women teachers. Starting January 2025, women teachers will receive training in their respective districts, eliminating the need to travel to state headquarters or other districts. This initiative aims to alleviate the challenges faced by women teachers and ensure their active participation in annual training programs.
The new system, directed by Additional Chief Secretary of the Education Department, S. Siddharth, emphasises quality education and innovation. Teachers from schools with poor learning outcomes will receive specialised training at the District Institutes of Education and Training (DIET). Biometric attendance will be implemented during the training sessions to ensure transparency and quality. Additionally, a monitoring centre named “Vidya Samiksha Kendra,” modelled on NCERT standards, will oversee the performance of teachers and schools at the district level.
In another development, multi-skill modular courses will commence in all 149 government Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) across Bihar. The Labor Resources Department has formed a committee of experts to design industry-relevant courses and improve infrastructure and facilities at these institutes. Labor Resources Minister Santosh Kumar Singh emphasised that these courses would focus on equipping youth with skills aligned with industry demands and fostering income-generation opportunities.
These initiatives underscore the government’s commitment to improving the education system and aligning vocational training with market needs. By enhancing opportunities for women teachers and youth, the state aims to improve educational outcomes and empower its workforce.
