Bihar Government Launches Drive to Identify Unique Products from Each Block Under ‘Atmanirbhar Bharat’

Patna: The Bihar government has launched a new initiative aimed at giving local products a distinct identity as part of the Centre’s Atmanirbhar Bharat mission. The state’s Department of Industries has instructed all district-level officials to identify one special product from each block, with a deadline of 10 days to submit detailed reports.
The initiative seeks to map out unique products across categories such as agriculture, textiles and leather, arts and crafts, as well as goods produced by local entrepreneurs and small businesses. These products will be selected based on their regional significance and economic potential, and efforts will be made to promote them on a national and international scale.
The move is aligned with the central government’s One District, One Product (ODOP) scheme, which aims to develop each district as a specialised export hub by encouraging local manufacturing and entrepreneurship. Bihar’s Industries Department is further localising this concept through a “One Block, One Product” model, recognising the diverse artisanal and agricultural heritage found across the state’s rural regions.
Industries Minister Nitish Mishra said the initiative would help highlight the distinct identity of every block. “Every block in Bihar has something special to offer. By identifying and promoting these products, we are not only spotlighting the region’s potential but also laying the groundwork for long-term economic self-reliance,” he said.
