Bihar Heatwave: Schools Closed in Patna till June 22, Relief Anticipated with Upcoming Monsoon
Patna: Bihar residents have endured severe heat for several weeks, although some districts experienced partly cloudy skies and light rain on Wednesday. In response to the scorching temperatures, Patna’s District Magistrate Shirshat Kapil Ashok has ordered the closure of private and government schools up to the class 8 until June 22. However, relief is anticipated in the coming days.
According to the Patna Meteorological Center, the monsoon is expected to arrive in Bihar within 24 to 36 hours. The southwest monsoon’s turf line currently lies between Bihar and West Bengal. Aurangabad received heavy rain in the morning, and several districts, including Jehanabad and Nalanda, have been cloudy since early hours.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts the monsoon will enter Bihar from West Bengal via Kishanganj and Purnia on Thursday.
On Thursday, rain and thunderstorms are expected in most districts, with heavy rainfall likely in Supaul, Araria, Kishanganj, Purnia, and Madhubani. Similar weather patterns are anticipated on Friday, promising much-needed respite from the oppressive heat.
