Bihar Signs MoU to Boost MSME Growth Under RAMP Initiative

Patna: The Bihar government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with key institutions to strengthen micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) initiative. The agreement aims to equip MSMEs with the skills, financial access, and leadership training required to compete in national and global markets.

The MoU, signed in collaboration with the central government and the World Bank, brings together several institutions, including the National Institute of Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development (NIESBUD), Chanakya Institute of Management (Patna), Indian Institute of Management (Bodh Gaya), Central Institute of Petrochemical Engineering and Technology (CIPET, Vaishali), and the Apparel, Made-Ups and Home Furnishing Sector Skill Council (AMHSSC) in Bhagalpur. These institutions will provide non-residential training to 80,000 MSMEs across Bihar.

The training programme will cover digital and financial literacy, manufacturing skills, leadership development, and market connectivity. It will also focus on promoting Bihar’s GI-tagged products for export and strengthening MSME clusters.

Under RAMP, Bihar has received approval for five projects worth Rs 135 crore, with a target of training 100,000 MSME units. The state government plans to set up training centres across all districts to implement the programme.

Industry minister Nitish Mishra, director of technical development Shekhar Anand, assistant industry director Nisha Kumar, and other officials were present at the signing ceremony.
