1.40 Lakh New Government Posts Announced, Big Boost for Youth Employment

Patna: Bihar Deputy Chief Minister and Finance Minister Samrat Chaudhary presented the state budget for 2025-26 in the Legislative Assembly on Monday, outlining a strong focus on employment generation and youth development. The budget includes provisions for 1.40 lakh new government jobs, following the creation of 427,866 jobs in the previous financial year.

The Bihar budget for 2025-26 places a strong emphasis on employment and infrastructure development. A key highlight is the creation of 1.40 lakh new government jobs in the upcoming financial year. To support unemployed youth, the Chief Minister Nishchay Swayam Sahayata Bhatta Yojana has provided financial assistance to 772,159 applicants as of January 14, 2025. The budget also prioritises sports infrastructure, with plans to construct stadiums in all 534 blocks of the state, out of which 370 have been approved and 229 have already been completed. Additionally, 6,659 playgrounds will be developed across 5,671 panchayats. To encourage sports excellence, the Medal Lao-Naukri Pao Scheme, which provides government jobs to state-level sports medalists, has so far benefited 71 athletes.

The Bihar budget for 2025-26 includes several key welfare and development measures aimed at regional growth and educational support. Under the Chief Minister’s Regional Development Fund, 37,613 schemes have been completed with an expenditure of Rs 2,091 crore. The government has also approved 1,628 projects under the MP Local Area Development Scheme for the year 2024-25. To support education for disadvantaged communities, Rs 875.77 crore has been allocated for scholarships benefiting students from backward and extremely backward classes studying in government institutions. Additionally, the state has approved the construction of 39 new girls’ residential higher secondary schools, ensuring improved access to education in all 38 districts.
