Four Little Hearts Silenced: Two Brothers and Two Sisters Drown in Bihar Pit

Four cousins drowned while bathing in a pit in Khagaria, Bihar, leaving their families broken with grief

Khagaria: A painful accident happened in Khagaria district of Bihar where four children from the same family drowned in a water-filled pit. The incident took place on Monday in Malpa Bahiyar area under Chautham police station. The children had gone to bathe in the pit but did not return home, creating panic in their families.

All four children were cousins – two were brothers and two were sisters. They have been identified as Annu Kumari, 12, and Anshu Kumari, 10, daughters of Anoj Prasad, and Golu Kumar, 12, and Karan Kumar, 9, sons of Lalit Prasad. Their clothes were found near the pit. Locals and divers searched for them till Monday evening but could not find them.

On Tuesday morning, the SDRF team arrived and started the search again. One by one, the bodies of all four children were taken out of the water. Seeing this, the family members cried loudly holding their children in their arms. The entire village became silent and sad after this tragic news.

Police officers reached the spot and handed over the bodies to the family after completing the formalities. Officials said that the families will get proper compensation as per the law. People gathered at their house to console them. Locals said it is shocking how the children went to bathe in that pit, which is not even meant for bathing.
