DARBHANGA – In a daring incident, miscreants riding a Scorpio kidnapped a youth from Khaira village in the Pator OP area of Darbhanga district on Tuesday night around 10 pm. Swift police action led to the recovery of the kidnapped individual and the apprehension of two suspects.

Upon receiving information about the incident, panic gripped the police department, prompting a blockade of Pator, Bahadurpur, Laheriasarai, Nagar, Kotwali, Bahadurpur, Hayaghat, Vishanpur, and other police stations. Intensive checks and patrols were initiated in an effort to locate the perpetrators.

The Laheriasarai police station successfully intercepted the Scorpio in Pandasarai, rescuing the kidnapped youth identified as Vikas Mahato, alias Vivek, a resident of Khaira. Two suspects, Rakesh Yadav and Raja Kumar Thakur from Taralahi in the Bahadurpur police station area, were arrested from the scene. However, three other assailants managed to escape in the Scorpio.

During interrogation, the rescued youth revealed that the kidnappers had posed as policemen and demanded a ransom of five lakhs. When he refused to comply, they assaulted him in a garden before planning to transport him elsewhere. The victim claimed to be a diamond businessman, but additional information suggests his involvement in a past theft of Rs 45 lakh during demonetization, which he used to build a lavish house.

While the police are actively conducting raids to apprehend the remaining suspects, sources hint at a potential connection to the liquor business. Pator OP in-charge Shiv Narayan Kumar stated that further actions are underway as the investigation unfolds.
