Patna: In a major push to empower artists and preserve cultural heritage, Bihar’s Department of Art, Culture and Youth on Friday launched the Bihar Artist Registration Portal, a digital platform aimed at streamlining support for artists across the state.
Inaugurating the portal in Patna, Art and Culture Minister Motilal Prasad said the initiative would be “a milestone in preserving Bihar’s rich artistic legacy” and would help bring national and international recognition to local talent. “Bihar has deep artistic roots, and this is a strong step towards offering our artists a broader platform,” he said.
The portal—https://artistrregistration-bihar-gov-in—will allow artists working in a range of disciplines, including classical, folk, contemporary, visual, and performing arts, to register online. The mobile number-based registration process is designed to be accessible, even for artists in remote areas.
Each registered artist will receive a unique identification number, which will serve as a prerequisite for availing government schemes, awards, training programmes, and cultural events. This digital ID is intended to enhance the accuracy of artist databases and ensure targeted support.
Prasad said the portal would function as a centralised platform to connect artists from every district, block, and village with state-run initiatives. “It will help identify regional talent and understand their specific needs,” he added.
The portal marks a digital leap for Bihar’s cultural policy, offering visibility and institutional backing to the state’s artistic community.
