Patna: Bihar’s long-awaited leap into the world of IT investment has officially begun, with the state’s Information Technology Minister, Krishna Kumar Mantoo, laying the foundation stone for two major companies—Lexa Lighting Technology Private Limited and Benchmark Infotech—at the newly developing IT park in Sikandarpur village, Bihta, near Patna. This marks a significant step in transforming Bihar from a consumer state into a producer state, as highlighted by the minister during the ceremony.

In attendance were key figures, including Secretary of the State Information Technology Department Abhay Kumar Singh, Special Secretary Arvind Kumar Chaudhary, and the directors of Lexa Lighting Technology. Minister Mantoo emphasized that the solar lights and IT-related products manufactured in Bihar would soon be exported across India and internationally. He revealed that the investment, long sought by the government over the past two years, is expected to generate more than 500 jobs, bringing much-needed employment opportunities to the region.

Secretary Abhay Kumar Singh further outlined the state’s commitment to supporting investors, noting that under Bihar’s new IT policy, the government would provide a range of incentives to businesses operating within the Bihta IT park. He also confirmed that for every Rs 100 crore invested in the park, the state government would contribute Rs 30 crore, alongside bearing the state GST and providing EPF benefits for employees for five years.

Minister Mantoo expressed his optimism for the future, stating that once 100 companies are operational in Bihta, millions of local youth will secure employment in their home state. He also extended gratitude to the residents of Bihta for their support in providing land for the park’s development.
