Bihar Mountaineer Aims to Scale New Heights: Everest Summit on the Horizon

Former MP R K Sinha with Lakshmi Jha

Patna: In a testament to the indomitable spirit and determination of Bihar’s youth, Saharsa’s Lakshmi Jha is poised to make history by planting the tricolor on the towering heights of Mount Everest, all without relying on government support. These aspirations were revealed by former MP RK Sinha during a recent press conference.

Sinha, speaking with pride, asserted that Lakshmi, a resident of Bangaon in Saharsa district, approached him with a passion for mountaineering a few years ago. Extending his wholehearted support, Sinha witnessed her inner talent flourish, culminating in significant achievements. Notably, Lakshmi recently made the nation proud by unfurling the tricolor on Turkey’s highest peak, Mount Ararat (16854 feet), following a successful ascent of Africa’s highest mountain, Kilimanjaro.

“Climbing Everest at 8,850 feet is no ordinary feat,” emphasized Sinha, underscoring that Lakshmi’s training regimen continues at the Nehru Institute, North Kashi. Expressing unwavering confidence in her capabilities, he predicted that Lakshmi would bring glory to Bihar on the global stage.

Sinha used this occasion to advocate for the potential hidden in Bihar’s youth, emphasizing that with parental love and opportunities, the state’s name could shine brighter globally. Urging self-reliance, he stated, “Only these youth can bring back the lost pride of Bihar, they will have to become the medium, neither relying on the Bihar government nor many talents could get the opportunity to blossom.”

In a heartfelt acknowledgment, mountaineer Lakshmi credited her current position to RK Sinha, calling him her guardian and motivational guide. Grateful for the opportunities provided, including travels to Africa and Turkey, she praised Sinha’s unwavering support and dedication.

“He listened to me like a guardian and gave me great support and love. Never made me feel the absence of my father,” Lakshmi said.

Undeterred by challenges, Lakshmi, having recently conquered the Black Peak Mountain at 6,387 feet, now sets her sights on Everest between March and May. Confident in her abilities, she said, “I am confident that I will make Bihar and RK Sinha sir proud in the world.”
