Patna: In the wake of the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, the Bihar Police Headquarters has issued a high alert across the state, warning of possible retaliatory action by terror outfits. A letter from the Additional Director General (ADG) of Law and Order has been sent to all Senior Superintendents of Police (SSPs) and Railway SPs, urging enhanced security measures at sensitive locations.

According to the directive, security is to be stepped up at crowded areas, religious and industrial sites, and railway premises. Officials have been instructed to increase hotel and lodge inspections, conduct intensified patrolling in border regions, and monitor content circulating on electronic and social media platforms related to the attack.

The police have also been told to reinforce security at key government establishments, including the Bihar Legislative Assembly, Legislative Council, Patna High Court, state secretariats and other major institutions.

The alert comes at a time of heightened tension between India and Pakistan. In response to the security threat, the central government has directed several states, including Bihar, to conduct mock drills for civil defence on May 7. These drills aim to educate citizens on self-protection measures in the event of a terror strike or wartime emergency.
