Bihar Police Cyber Team to Use AI as a Weapon Against Cyber Fraud

A new AI centre and national hackathon aim to boost Bihar’s defence against online fraud.

Patna: The Bihar Police is now turning to artificial intelligence (AI) to stop the rise in cyber crime. The cyber cell will use AI tools to detect and prevent online fraud, making their fight against cyber criminals stronger and smarter.

To support this move, a new Research and Development Centre for Cyber Security and Cyber Forensics has been opened in partnership with C-DAC Patna. This centre will help both police officers and the public understand how cyber criminals operate. It will also focus on finding new ways to use AI to protect people from digital threats.

As part of this effort, a Cyber Hackathon will be held on June 25 and 26. Organised by the Economic Offences Unit and C-DAC Patna, the event will welcome participants from across India. The goal is to develop creative ideas and tools that can improve cybersecurity and help solve digital crimes.

AI helps by spotting unusual behaviour in networks, alerting teams to possible threats quickly. It reduces false alarms and improves accuracy. EOU officer Nayyar Hasnain Khan said this AI centre will bring together police experience and scientific knowledge to solve cyber crime more effectively.
