Bihar Police Raid JDU Leader’s House in Samastipur: Rifles, Swords, Cash, and Illegal Liquor Seized
Samastipur: Police raided the house of JDU leader Sanjeev Kumar Singh in Samastipur, uncovering rifles, swords, cash, and illegal liquor. Two vehicles with JDU boards, also containing liquor, were seized from Singh’s residence.
Acting on secret information, Vidyapati Nagar police raided the JDU leader’s house in Harpur Bochaha village. During the raid, Singh and his brother allegedly misbehaved with the police team.
ASP Sanjay Pandey stated that the investigation is ongoing. “Liquor, a rifle, and some cash were recovered during the raid. However, no one has been arrested in this case so far,” he said.
The police had received a tip-off that the District General Secretary of JDU Kisan Cell was involved in the illegal liquor business. Following this information, the police team, led by ASI Ranjit Kumar, raided the residence of Sanjeev Kumar Singh, son of Prithvidhar Singh.
Upon seeing the police, Sanjeev Kumar Singh and his brother Amit Kumar Singh became agitated, using their party influence to argue and abuse the officers. ASI Ranjit Kumar reported that due to the escalating situation, additional police forces were called in, prompting the accused to flee under the cover of darkness.
During the subsequent search, police recovered Rs 99,500 in cash, an illegal rifle, and a sword from the house. Additionally, 96 bottles of liquor were found in the trunks of two vehicles parked in the housing complex, both of which were seized. One vehicle was marked with “Principal General Secretary (Farmer Cell) JDU, Samastipur” and displayed a police symbol on the back.
The police noted that Sanjeev Kumar Singh, the District General Secretary of Janata Dal United Kisan Cell, had previously been involved in a liquor-related incident, resulting in his brother Amit Kumar Singh serving jail time.
ASP Sanjay Pandey confirmed that the raid was based on reliable information. “A large quantity of liquor was recovered from the JDU leader’s house. The police are investigating the matter and taking further action. The accused will be arrested soon,” he assured.
