Bihar Police to Receive New Housing and Transfer Policies, Announces DGP RS Bhatti
Patna: In a significant move aimed at improving the work-life balance of police personnel, Bihar’s Director General of Police (DGP), RS Bhatti, announced upcoming changes to the housing and transfer-posting policies for officers and staff. The announcements came during a Police Remembrance Day ceremony held at the premises of Bihar Special Armed Police-5 in the state capital on Saturday.
New Housing Policy
The DGP highlighted that a comprehensive housing policy is in the works, aiming to allow police officers and personnel to live at one location with their families. “This policy is designed to ensure that our personnel and their families can live and study at one place. The objective is to create a better harmony between the professional and personal lives of the policemen,” Bhatti said.
Changes in Transfer-Posting Policy
Alongside the housing reforms, the transfer-posting policy is also set to undergo changes. Bhatti explained that the adjustments aim to strike a balance between police officers’ personal responsibilities and their professional duties.
Increasing Number of Women in the Force
DGP Bhatti noted that the number of women in the Bihar Police force is on the rise, nearing one-third of the total personnel. “Given the increasing representation of women in the force, changes in these policies are necessary,” he added.
Paying Tribute to the Fallen
During the ceremony, an emotional tribute was paid to eight Bihar Police personnel and 188 officers nationwide who lost their lives in the line of duty over the past year. Senior officers, including Additional Director General (ADG) Headquarters Jitendra Singh Gangwar, were present at the event, where DGP Bhatti also took the salute of the parade.
