Bihar Public Service Commission Expels 13 Candidates Amid Exam Irregularities

Patna: The Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) has expelled 13 candidates following allegations of irregularities in the 70th Preliminary Examination. Examination Controller Rajesh Kumar Singh confirmed the decision, adding that further action would be taken against those responsible for the misconduct.

A total of 21,786 candidates passed the exam, which saw participation from individuals across various categories. Among the successful candidates, 2,149 belong to the Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), 3,295 are from Scheduled Castes, and 2,793 are from the Backward Classes.

In the wake of the exam, Singh also addressed concerns about misinformation and rumors that spread during the process. One such rumor claimed that the exam questions were unusually easy. However, a particular question related to Shreyasi Singh proved otherwise. More than 170,000 candidates answered incorrectly, with only one achieving the maximum score of 120 marks.

Singh warned that those found spreading false information could face a prison sentence of up to five years. This move is part of efforts to maintain the integrity of the examination process and prevent further disruptions.

The validity of the 70th BPSC exam is being reviewed in the Patna High Court. The court’s decision could lead to the cancellation of the commission’s actions if any irregularities are proven. If no issues are found, however, the commission’s decisions will stand.
