Bihar RERA Issues Arrest Warrants Against Three Builders, Orders Recovery of Rs 21 Lakh
Patna: The Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) Bihar has issued arrest warrants against three builders—Ghar Laxmi Buildcon, Aditya Unique Construction, and Pataligram Builders. The authority has also ordered the recovery of Rs 21 lakh, which is to be paid to three home buyers who had filed complaints against these builders. The order was passed by the Chairman’s court after hearing the cases.
Gopal Swaroop Ravi had filed a case against Ghar Laxmi Buildcon for a refund of Rs 3.5 lakh. Despite a March 2023 order directing the builder to return the money, the amount was not refunded. The complainant then filed a writ petition in January 2024 (RERA/EXE/184/2024). Similarly, Aditya Unique Construction was ordered to refund Rs 10 lakh to Suresh Narayan Singh in January 2024, but after non-compliance, a case (RERA/EXE/231/2024) was filed in June 2024. Dinesh Kumar had also approached RERA against Pataligram Builders, which was ordered in August 2023 to refund Rs 7.84 lakh. After the builder failed to comply, a case (RERA/EXE/318/2024) was filed in September 2024.
The authority has taken this strict action to ensure that builders do not ignore home buyers’ rights. RERA has stated that it will not tolerate negligence from builders and expects them to make the payments soon following the arrest warrants.
This decision is seen as a major step in protecting the interests of home buyers in Bihar. RERA has also warned other builders that similar strict action will be taken against those who fail to comply with its orders. Home buyers who have been struggling to get their refunds are now hopeful of getting justice.
