Bihar: RJD’s ‘Mai-Behan Maan Yojana’ Promises Financial Aid To Women Amid Rising Inflation; Tejashwi Yadav Promises Monthly Aid Of Rs 2,500
Darbhanga: Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav has announced that if the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) forms the government in Bihar, the ‘Mai-Behan Maan Yojana’ will be launched within a month. Under this scheme, women will receive ₹2,500 every month. Yadav made the announcement while addressing the media at a hotel near Delhi Mode on Saturday evening.
Tejashwi emphasized that the people of Bihar are grappling with rising unemployment, poverty, and inflation. He revealed that his ongoing tour has provided crucial feedback from party workers and citizens about the state government’s failures and inefficiencies. He accused the current administration of mismanagement, citing issues like corruption in electricity billing, flawed land surveys, increasing crime rates, and infrastructural failures such as collapsing bridges.
Highlighting his party’s commitment to job creation, Tejashwi said, “In 2020, we promised 10 lakh jobs. During my 17 months as Deputy Chief Minister, we fulfilled that promise by providing government jobs to 5 lakh people and announcing 3.5 lakh new vacancies. Despite questions on funding, we delivered on our pledge.”
Yadav underscored the importance of empowering women for Bihar’s progress, stating, “Until women are economically empowered, true development cannot happen. Crores of mothers and sisters in Bihar are struggling due to inflation. The ‘Mai-Behan Maan Yojana’ will provide much-needed financial relief and ensure economic justice along with social justice.”
As part of his Karyakarta Darshan cum Samvad program, Tejashwi Yadav will begin the next phase of his tour from Supaul on Sunday. The eight-day tour will cover 44 Assembly constituencies, concluding in Bhagalpur on 22nd December. RJD state spokesperson Chittaranjan Gagan stated that this phase will complete Tejashwi’s engagement with nearly half of Bihar’s constituencies.
The itinerary for Tejashwi’s tour includes stops in Supaul (15th December), Saharsa (16th December), Madhepura (17th December), Araria (18th December), Kishanganj (19th December), Purnia (20th December), Katihar (21st December), and Bhagalpur (22nd December).
Previously, in two earlier phases of the program, Tejashwi interacted with party workers across 48 Assembly constituencies in Samastipur, Darbhanga, Madhubani, Muzaffarpur, Banka, and Jamui districts. Combined with the first part of the third phase, he has already reached workers in 65 constituencies across 11 districts.
The Mai-Behan Maan Yojana announcement marks a significant step in RJD’s campaign strategy, as the party looks to consolidate support ahead of the upcoming Bihar Assembly Elections.
