Bihar Schools Shut Until January 11 Amid Cold Wave and Travel Disruptions

Patna: Bihar is currently experiencing a severe cold wave, with temperatures plummeting due to snowfall in the Himalayas. The Meteorological Center has issued a cold day alert for 14 districts and a dense fog alert for the entire state.

Chhapra recorded the lowest temperature at 7.3 degrees Celsius in the last 24 hours, while Kishanganj was the warmest with a maximum temperature of 26.5 degrees Celsius.

The cold wave has disrupted normal life, with 12 flights delayed and 11 trains running behind schedule due to dense fog.

To mitigate the impact of the cold, schools from 1st to 8th standard have been closed until January 11th in several districts, including Patna. The district administration has also set up bonfires at various locations and provided shelter and blankets to vulnerable populations.

The Meteorological Center has warned of further temperature drops in the coming days and advised residents to take precautions to protect themselves from the cold.
