Bihar Sees Drop in Maximum Temperatures, Rainfall Forecast in 13 Districts

Bihar Sees Drop in Maximum Temperatures, Rainfall Forecast for Pre-Monsoon

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast that this pattern is likely to persist until the end of February.

Patna: Bihar is experiencing a drop in maximum temperatures, with Patna recording a 2-degree Celsius decrease to 28.2 degrees Celsius on Sunday. This decline, attributed to the influence of westerly winds, was observed in most districts across the state, excluding Sitamarhi and Kishanganj.

Khagaria, however, bucked the trend, registering the highest maximum temperature at 31.7 degrees Celsius. Looking ahead, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasts light rain at one or two locations within 13 districts as the pre-monsoon season begins on March 1.

While maximum temperatures have fallen, the minimum temperatures in most areas, including Patna (19.0 degrees Celsius), have risen. The lowest minimum temperature was recorded in Saharsa Agawanpur at 11.5 degrees Celsius. This increase in minimum temperatures is likely to result in mild heat at night.

The IMD predicts dry weather across the state for the next 72 hours, with partly cloudy skies expected in Patna and other regions. No significant changes are anticipated in either minimum or maximum temperatures during this period.

Recent days saw light to moderate rainfall in 29 cities across eight districts. Bhagalpur experienced the highest rainfall at 13.3 mm, followed by Kursela (12.8 mm) and Matiyani (12.6 mm). Other areas that received rainfall include Kolgaon (Bhagalpur), Naugachia, Gopalpur, Khagaria, and Katihar. The effects of this weather system in northern Bihar were felt in other parts of the state, including Patna.
